  • Sheet Sets

Your sheets are arguably your most important purchase. These from Threshold by Target are what I personally use and have done so for years. Remember, always buy white so your guests can see that they are clean.

  • Pillows

Pillows are your second most important investment. While you will likely have to replace them more often than your sheets, a variety of good quality pillows will keep your guests from making a trip to the store the next day after an uncomfortable night’s sleep. I discovered this company while honeymooning in Charleston, SC at a lovely boutique inn.

  • Comforters

You don’t need to over pay for an expensive alternative down comforter. This one has held up extremely well, even after frequent washing. Place between two white flat sheets for that hotel experience.

  • Towels

Choosing a moderately-priced set of towels is likely your best bet. You want them to be of good quality to last, yet you don’t want to invest too much into a set that could possibly end up being left at the beach or at the pool. These Charisma brand towels from Costco have proven to be a great choice for a reasonable price.

  • Black Out Curtains

Black out curtains can really improve your guests’ sleeping experience. Some people rely heavily upon a dark room for a proper night’s sleep, especially when it comes to babies and toddlers. Pottery Barn Kids have excellent black out curtains, and I use them in my kids’ bedrooms. They are usually less expensive than Pottery Barn’s curtains, and they have neutral colors. Always invest in ones that have a high-quality cloth backing.

  • Toiletries

Hotels are phasing out individual bottles and wrapped soaps for environmental purposes. Plus, most people like to travel with their own hair products. However, leaving out a lovely scented French soap for your guests is a really nice touch. Pré de Provence has my seal of approval. Linden is an especially nice scent.

  • White Noise & Air Purifier Machines

I own the Healthmate Jr., and aside from it being a great air purifier, it serves as the best white noise machine I have ever used. It is also highly rated for allergy sufferers. This product and their replacement filters do come with a hefty price tag, but if you have issues with noise and air pollution in your vacation rental, this product is a great solution and could be worth the cost if you’re losing repeat guests.
